Is this thing on?
It’s been a long time since I sent out an email. If you’ve never received one from me before, don’t worry, I’m not about to flood your inbox. I just wanted to say hello (hello!) and mention a few new things.
Diedream
I recently published a one-page solo game called Diedream which you play whilst you fall asleep. It doesn’t use any components (apart from a few fingers) and doesn’t require any writing, so really you can play it anywhere. It uses a pretty neat way of generating random results in your head.
If you’re feeling really lazy, here I am teaching you the rules in 2.5 minutes. Honestly, you can pick up the game that quickly and play this tonight.
If you need some inspiration on where to start, there’s a one-page adventure module, called Wild of Eye. And if you fancy making a module of your own, there’s a template you can use.
Outer Rim: Uprising / Known Frequencies 2
I’m part of a big Mothership RPG project that’s gaining critical mass in the background whilst our backs are turned, called Outer Rim: Uprising. The console light is flashing red on the glass...
Organised by IKO of Lost Bay Studio, it’s a smorgasbord of MoSH adventures, pamphlets, maps, generators, player facing accessories and generally completely rad stuff from some definitively rad creators like David Blandy, Chris Airiau, Zach Hazard Vaupen amongst others. Go follow it on Kickstarter.
I’m designing some embroidered patches and a sequel to my in-universe Mothership zine Known Frequencies. You can read more about that in IKO’s newsletter (scroll down down down), but it’s a futuristic ham radio hobbyist group’s DIY publication featuring a cosmic lonely hearts line, a ghoulish last known communications transmission and a colonel fighting a war that ended years ago. These zines are some of my favourite things to make. If you don’t already have the first one, it’s still available to buy.
Thousand Empty Light - review
Speaking of Mothership, my solo adventure Thousand Empty Light recently featured on Geek Gamers’ channel sparking some renewed interest in the module. I’m pretty proud of this adventure so hearing these words was particularly validating:
One of the most expansive solo modules for a non-solo ruleset that I've ever seen.
Dragonmeet
I’ve got a stall at Dragonmeet in London (UK) in December where I’ll be peddling my wares.
Most importantly, I want some patches to show off on my jacket so I can be a bonafide cool dude. So if you make patches or know of anyone who makes awesome patches, hit me up.
What else am I up to?
Work continues with Gareth Damian Martin on the Citizen Sleeper adaptation, Cycles of the Eye. It’s really shaping up nicely.
I’ve got a few Mothership commissions for other creators in various states of completion, plus one for Cloud Empress by Watt.
And I’ve got a couple of secret collaborations which I’m very excited to reveal soon…
Great news! I am a big fan of Known Frequencies.
